Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Translate ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app translates your store's content with an AI model and saves the translations in your Shopify store, where you can review and edit them. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Machine translation

Translations are produced by an AI model and can contain mistakes. You are responsible for reviewing translations before you publish a language, especially for legal, safety, health or pricing information. The app doesn't translate your store policies (such as refund or terms of service pages); we recommend a professional translation for legal text.

Word allowances and billing

Each plan includes a number of words translated per calendar month (UTC), counted in your original text once per language, as shown on the Plans page. When the allowance is used, translation pauses until the next month or until you upgrade; you are never charged per word. Plans are billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can cancel at any time by changing plans or uninstalling the app. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.

Your content

You keep all rights to your store content and its translations. You give us permission to process your content only to provide the app. You are responsible for having the right to publish your content and its translations.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

When the app processes personal data on your behalf (for example if your store content mentions a person), you are the controller and we are the processor. We will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only the minimum needed: the app reads store content and its translations, never customer or order records, and sends the text of fields being translated to the translation model without keeping a copy (apart from item titles used to list your content);
  • never sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting, database, background processing and Workers AI, which does not use inputs to train models) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • keep settings and bookkeeping while the app is installed, and delete all shop data after uninstall (shop redaction);
  • help you respond to data subject requests and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
