Questions merchants ask
How are words counted?
We count the words in your original text that are sent for translation, once for each language. Fields that are already translated, fields you've edited yourself, HTML tags and links don't count. Free includes 5,000 words a month and Pro 500,000. Before you translate, a free scan shows roughly how many words your store has.
What happens to translations I've edited?
They're yours. Mint Translate remembers every value it wrote; if a translation was written or changed by anyone else, automatic translation and auto-sync skip it — even when the original text changes. The editor marks those fields so you can review them.
Which AI does the translating?
An open large language model (Google's Gemma) running on Cloudflare Workers AI. We tested several models on real store content in 13 languages and chose it for the most natural wording and reliable handling of formatting. Cloudflare doesn't use the text to train models.
Will my languages show up on my store straight away?
A language appears once it's published and added to a market. Mint Translate can publish it for you and links to Settings → Languages, where Shopify shows which markets use it.
Does it slow down my storefront?
No. Translations are saved in Shopify, which serves them natively (for example on /de/ URLs). The optional language selector uses Shopify's own form and loads no scripts.
