Mint Translate is a Shopify app made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). It translates a merchant's store content — products, collections, pages, blog posts, menus, theme text and similar — with AI and saves the translations in the merchant's Shopify store. This policy explains what the app handles, why, and when it's deleted.
The short version
- The app works with store content, not with customers. It doesn't read or store any customer or order data.
- Store text is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI to be translated. Cloudflare doesn't use it to train AI models or share it.
- Translations are saved in the merchant's Shopify store. Our database keeps settings, progress and bookkeeping, not copies of the text.
- We never sell or share data, use it for advertising, or combine it across stores.
Information about merchants and their stores
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Store domain and a Shopify access token | To read the store's content and languages and to save translations. |
| Settings: languages to translate into, content types, tone, auto-sync, glossary terms | To translate the way the merchant chose. |
| An index of the store's translatable items: Shopify IDs, titles (e.g. a product name), counts of fields and words | To list content in the editor, show progress and estimate word counts. |
| For each translated field: its Shopify ID and key, whether the AI or the merchant wrote it, a one-way fingerprint (hash) of the translation, and the source fingerprint Shopify provides | To recognise translations the merchant has edited so they're never overwritten, and to re-translate only fields whose original changed. |
| Translation jobs (language, progress, counts, error messages) and words translated per month | To run translations in the background, show activity, and apply plan allowances. |
| Plan and subscription status | Read from Shopify to decide which features apply. Payments are handled entirely by Shopify. |
Store content sent for translation
To translate a field, the app sends its text (with HTML tags, links and Liquid variables replaced by placeholders), the target language, the merchant's glossary terms and a short description of the field (for example "product title") to Cloudflare Workers AI, which runs the translation model. The result is checked and saved to the merchant's store with Shopify's translation API. Apart from item titles in the index above, we don't keep copies of the original or translated text in our database or logs. Cloudflare states that it does not use Workers AI inputs or outputs to train models or to improve its services, and does not make them available to other customers.
Store content is written by the merchant and normally isn't personal data. If a merchant includes personal information in their content (for example a staff name on an About page), it's processed only to translate it, as described above.
Shoppers
Mint Translate doesn't collect information about shoppers. Translated pages are served by Shopify. The optional language selector uses Shopify's own language form; it loads no scripts from us, sends nothing to us and sets no cookies of its own.
Customer privacy requests
- Access and erasure requests (Shopify's
customers/data_requestandcustomers/redact): we hold no customer data, so there is nothing to return or delete. We confirm this to the merchant on request. - Store deletion (
shop/redact, sent 48 hours after a merchant uninstalls): we permanently delete everything we hold for the store — settings, glossary, index, field records, jobs, usage counts and access tokens.
Where data is processed and how it's protected
The app runs on Cloudflare (hosting, database, background queue and Workers AI) and connects to Shopify's APIs. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is limited to Mint Labs staff who need it to provide support. We use no other sub-processors, analytics or trackers. See our security policy.
Retention
Settings, glossary, index and field records are kept while the app is installed. Finished translation jobs are deleted after 90 days. Access tokens are deleted when the app is uninstalled, and everything else when Shopify sends the store deletion request 48 hours later. Translations already saved in the store stay there under the merchant's control; uninstalling the app doesn't remove them.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have the right to access, correct or delete information about you. Merchants can contact us directly and we respond within 30 days.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify merchants in the app.
